Unwind from the stresses of your daily life. Calm your mind and body, while rejuvenating your energy. Therapists use a combination of five basic strokes (kneading, rolling, vibrational, percussive, and tapping movements) to manipulate the soft tissues of the body to help your body achieve balance and relaxation.
A deep tissue massage session targets the deep layers of connective tissue and muscles throughout the body. It involves the manipulation of the sub-layer of musculature and fascia. This approach is often used to address chronic muscular pain and holding patterns. It often aids in injury rehabilitation and can reduce some types of inflammation-related pain.
Hot Stone massage is a form of massage therapy that follows the same principles of a Relaxation massage but with the addition of heated stones, which are believed to better open the body's energy pathways. The stones are positioned on specific areas of the client's body. The heat from the stones warms the tissue, allowing for greater deep tissue manipulation, relaxation, and ease of muscle movement. Massage oils are used to allow the therapist to more easily work with the muscles. Hot stones may be alternated with cold stones or room temperature stones to facilitate the massage treatment benefits.
Available as a 60 minute session. Service extension is optional.
Prenatal massage is performed by a trained perinatal specialist, utilizing many of the techniques used in a Relaxation massage, but tailored specifically to the needs and concerns of pregnant women. Studies indicate that massage therapy performed during pregnancy can reduce anxiety, ease pain, improve mobility, increase circulation, decrease symptoms of depression, and improve labor outcomes and newborn health.
Our practitioners who offer this service have specialized, advanced training in anatomy, physiology, complications, precautions, and contraindications. Prenatal massage is performed with the client properly supported and surrounded by pillows. The session focus can be on overall relaxation or addressing specific issues.
Prenatal massages typically start after the first trimester. We encourage you to discuss massage with your healthcare provider before scheduling an appointment. Depending on your specific condition, a physician’s referral may be required prior to therapy.
Available as a 60 minute session. Service extension is optional.
Craniosacral therapy encourages the body’s natural healing mechanisms to improve the functioning of the central nervous system, dissipate the negative effects of stress, and enhance health and resistance to disease. The craniosacral therapy practitioner uses a light touch to assist the natural movement of fluid within the craniosacral system. Therapists generally use only five grams of pressure, roughly the weight of a nickel, to test for restrictions in various parts of the craniosacral system. It’s often possible for the evaluation alone to remove the restriction and allow the system to correct itself.
Available as a 60 minute session. Service extension is optional.
Reflexology is a deeply relaxing treatment where the practitioner applies pressure on the reflex points in the feet, hands, and ears. The principle of reflexology is that these reflex points correspond to specific organs and glands, and that stimulating those points enhances health in those organs and glands. Reflexology is also referred to as “Zone Therapy” and has been used for thousands of years in China and Egypt. Traditionally, a reflexology treatment is done with a client fully clothed and without the use of tools or topical lubrications.
Available as a 30 minute session.
Reiki is a technique for reducing stress, encouraging relaxation, and promoting healing. It is an energy directed modality that originated in Japan in the early 20th century by Mikao Usui. In a Reiki session, the practitioner places her hands on or just above the client’s body to activate energy within receptive points on the body. The practitioner moves through different landmarks, remaining in each position for three to ten minutes.
Available as a 60 minute session.
